Summary: Color Coding for Student Names in the SafeDriver360 App
Grey: The student is assigned to this bus/stop but has not scanned on.
Green: The student is assigned to this bus/stop and has successfully scanned on or off as planned.
Red: The student scanned on/off but was not assigned to this bus/stop (unplanned).
Green Dot: Indicates the student is scanned on and currently riding the bus. It appears at their assigned stop even if they boarded at a different stop. For example, if a student boards earlier than planned, a green dot will still appear at their assigned stop and their assigned drop-off stop.
AM Routes (Driving to School)
When navigation starts, students appear Grey on the route plan, meaning they are assigned to this bus but still need to be scanned.
When students are scanned at their assigned stop, their name turns Green in the list.
For example, in the screenshot below, Emma Schmidt’s name is green, confirming this student boarded the correct bus at their assigned stop.
If students scan at an unexpected stop, they are marked as unplanned because they were not assigned to that stop or bus. In this case, their name will turn Red.
For example, in the screenshot below, Margaret Saari’s name is red, indicating this student was not expected to ride this bus.
A green dot indicates a student was scanned onto the bus and needs to be dropped off at the school.
For Example, Elijah Sandberry and Emma Schmidt at stop #5, the Middle School.
In contrast, as shown in the screenshot below, if a student did not board the bus at their assigned stop, their name will not have a green dot for the school stop.
For example, Ronald Sharp did not board the bus at stop #3. As a result, his name does not have a green dot for the Middle School stop, and he does not need to be dropped off there.
For a school drop-off

At a school stop, when the bus gets into the school radius, the Drop Off All button will appear. Driver can click it to automatically scan off all students who scanned on, or children themselves can scan off one by one. After the scan-off, the students' names will change color based on their status.
- Green means the student was assigned to that stop and has been dropped off.
- Red means the student was not assigned to that stop but was dropped off.
- Grey means the student did not board the assigned bus and was not dropped off.
For example, on the screenshot to the left, at Stop #5, Elijah Sadberry and Emma Schmidt were scanned off at their assigned school, and their names turned green.
Margaret Saari was dropped off at the school but was not assigned to that stop, so her name is red. Ronald Sharp never boarded, so his name stays grey.
The Green dot next to Alejandro Shaw at stop #6, Elementary School, indicates that this student is still on the bus and needs to be dropped off there.
Additional Notes
- A Green Dot next to a student's name typically indicates this student in scanned and riding the bus. The green dot appears next to a child's name at their assigned stop, even if they scanned at a different stop on the route. For example, if a student boards the bus a few stops earlier than usual, their name will have a green dot at the designated pick-up stop and at their assigned drop-off stop. However, their name will switch from a green dot to fully green at the school stop when they scan off there.
- Divers can use the green dot feature to confirm a student is already scanned on the bus.
- For pick-up, if a driver arrives at a stop and sees a student's name with a green dot, they do not need to stop, as this indicates the student is already on the bus.
- For drop-off, if a student's name has a green dot at the stop, the driver should stop to ensure the student leaves the bus and goes home.
PM Route (From School to Home)
Student name highlights — green, red, or grey — function the same way on PM routes as on AM routes.
In the example to the right for Stop #1, Middle School:
- Elijah Sadberry and Emma Schmidt are Grey, indicating they were planned for this stop but did not scan onto the bus.
- Ronald Sharp is Green, showing he was planned for this stop and successfully scanned on.
- Alice Sutton is Red, meaning she scanned onto the bus but was not assigned to it.
- The Green Dot next to Ronald’s name at Stop #3 indicates that he has been scanned onto the bus and needs to be dropped off at that assigned stop.
