Many of your students changing to a new school will also need a new bus schedule. For example, in this site, 8th graders of Casey Middle School are going to graduate and go to Sweet Home Senior High School in the new school year. To prepare your site for this, you must first clone the transportation plans for these students into the new school year. To do this, simply navigate to the Students tab in the current school year, then select Operations from the taskbar, choose Batch Edit, and change the category for transportation plans to “Clone transportation plans from 2020 to 2021 to another.” Be sure to click the Save button. Don’t worry about having to update the student schools, as our system will automatically update to the students’ appropriate attending school.
For students who do not have transportation plans, you need to generate transportation plans from their current bus schedules first. You can find this function under Batch Edit as well; then clone the transportation plans to the next school year.
Now you can remove the student bus schedules that need to be removed for the new school year. First, switch to the new school year you have just cloned your routes to. This can be accomplished by navigating to the current school year in the top-right corner and clicking it; you will then be prompted to select a school year. Next, navigate to the Students tab at the top of the page. Using the Build and Filters in the top taskbar, select the grade levels that will be at a new school for the school year.
In this site, we select the ninth grader of Sweet Home Senior High School because they will have moved from middle school to high school. Once you have selected all the grades that need their schedules removed, click on the Operations menu in the top taskbar. Next, click Batch Edit to enter the batch editing menu, change the Bus Schedules option to Remove All, and then click the Save icon at the top of the page.
To make it easier to reassign bus schedules to students, it may be helpful to save this group of students in a custom filter. From the Students tab, ensure you have filtered for the grades you removed the bus schedules for. Under Filters, you may also want to select Riders from the Rider’s filter to ensure you are saving only the students who take the bus. Now navigate to the Filters menu in the top taskbar, go to Custom Filters, click Save Current Filter, and give this filter a meaningful name. Now you can begin to reassign bus schedules.
